Igennem 89 år har DAF Trucks opnået et ry for at kunne udvikle, fremstille, sælge og servicere markedsførende transportudstyr. Det konstante drive for at designe og fremstille transportløsninger af højeste kvalitet er blevet et varemærke for virksomheden. Det at øge merværdien for kunderne har altid været grundstenen i DAF's succes.


DAF's rødder går tilbage til 1928, da brødrene Hub og Wim Van Doorne lagde grundstenen til det, der nu er den hurtigst voksende lastvognsproducent i Europa. Det, der begyndte som et lille ingeniørfirma og smedeværksted, udviklede sig til en anhængerproduktionsvirksomhed i 1932. I 1949 blev den første DAF lastvogn produceret på anhængerfabrikken. Et år senere blev en ny lastvognsfabrik bygget, og produktionen startede med tre, fem og seks tons chassiser til lastvogne.
